:::: Matthew Fritz, Music Director and Conductor ::::
Matthew Fritz is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, where he received a degree in orchestral conducting under the direction of Neil Varon. A native of Scottsdale, Arizona, Matthew studied conducting privately with Robert Moody and holds a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University in violin performance. Matthew is currently the Conductor of Youth Programs with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, and is Music Director of the Parkway Concert Orchestra in Norwood, MA. While just at the beginning of his conducting experiences, Matthew has had the opportunity to guest conduct the Portland Symphony in Maine, the Southern Arizona Symphony, Quincy and Cape Ann Symphonies in MA, and the Phoenix Symphony Guild Youth Orchestra. He has also conducted concerts with the Mendoza Symphony in Argentina, and worked with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra through the Eastman Summer Conducting Institute.
While at Eastman, Matthew was an active member of the Neo Chamber Orchestra both as conductor and violinist when it began in 2005. He served as music director of this unique organization for the 2006-2007 season. Matthew is passionate about sharing music with others, especially those who might not ordinarily be exposed to Classical music.
