The Dedham Music Association presents the Parkway Concert Orchestra in a concert of music about "The Final Frontier" on Sunday, May 20 at 3 p.m. at Dedham Middle School, 70 Whiting Avenue, Dedham.

Music Director and Conductor Matthew Fritz has chosen a lively program including Mars and Jupiter from The Planets by Gustav Holst and selections from Superman, Return of the Jedi and Star Trek. The program features violinist Lucia Lin in Antonín Dvořák's Romance, Op. 11, and selections from Schindler’s List. The concert also features the Dedham High School Concert Band, directed by Scott Abrahamson.

This concert is sponsored by Dedham Savings and is supported in part by a grant from the Dedham Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. Proceeds to benefit the Music Association of Dedham High School.

Donation is $10; $8 for seniors and $5 for children under 12 years old. For ticket reservations please call 781-326-1667.

Route 128 (North or South) to Exit 15A. Take a right at the 5th set of lights onto Eastern Ave. (before Staples) Dedham Middle school is past the first stop sign on the left.

Lucia Lin, violin

Lucia Lin portraitLucia Lin made her debut performing with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at the age of 11. Since then, she has been a prizewinner of numerous competitions, including the 1990 International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. She has performed in solo recitals throughout the U.S., making her New York debut at Carnegie Recital Hall in March 1991, and has appeared with the Boston Pops Orchestra, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Oklahoma Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and Festival Orchestra in Graz, Austria.

A frequent collaborator in chamber music, Ms. Lin is a member of the Muir String Quartet, the quartet in residence at Boston University. She is also a member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and has served as concertmaster of both the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra. She has also recorded for Nonesuch Records as a guest of the Boston Symphony Chamber Players and for New World Records on a disc featuring the works of Bright Sheng.
